When it comes to historical claims, what are the qualities that one would expect to find in a genuine revelation from God? Since our Creator is perfect and has knowledge of all things, we would expect His true revelation to be historically accurate and free of error. Anything less than this can only lead to one conclusion: we are dealing with the imperfect words of man and not the divine. This article is going to compare the Qur’an and Bible in light their historical accuracy.

There was evidence of a Broadmoor paedophile ring in 1986

The current Savile NHS inquiry is looking at allegations of sexual abuse at Broadmoor psychiatric hospital in Berkshire.

There were allegations of a ‘child pornography ring’ at Broadmoor in 1997, but a report by Health Secretary Stephen Dorrell found “no evidence whatsoever of a paedophile ring or child pornography ring in Broadmoor”. Broadmoor’s chief executive Alan Franey resigned shortly afterwards. (Independent 17/02/97 + Independent 04/06/97)

But it seems there had also been allegations of a paedophile ring involving Broadmoor staff in 1986.

“Detectives believe they have broken a nationwide network making and distributing child porn videos. Films featuring girls as young as three and six have been seized in raids on 30 homes across the country. And a key figure in the network has been identified by CID – a middle-aged former Broadmoor nurse.”

His description was circulated to forces investigating the murder or disappearance of 15 children.

The CHILE 4th Report (CHildren In Lambeth Enquiry) was slick and seemed to give the impression that any problem with sexual abuse in Lambeth was investigated, sorted and finished [2]. That is, even 20 years later, far from the case.

What appeared to be missing was any heart, any compassion, any caring for young lives ruined by child sexual abuse – the report was a public relations exercise, and reeked of legal, financial and political risk minimisation for the council and its higher profile politicians and civil servants. This is not what the public want from their public servants. The public tend to want truth and transparency and indeed the Nolan principles of public life [30]. Why is some information even being deleted?

Petition 2 – HOC STOP Ministers Spinning Statisitcs

Yesterday Debbie Sayers and I decided it was time to follow up on our successful petition of last year. We like thousands of others on twitter & Facebook are Sick of the ongoing spinning of statistics but, and perhaps more importantly, the Work & Pensions Select’s 3rd Report  made three vitally important recommendations regarding this:

Use of DWP statistics

19.  DWP releases a great deal of statistical information about benefits. We have commented before that it needs to exercise care in the language used in accompanying press releases and ministerial comments in the media. 2013 saw heightened and quite widespread concern—including from the UK Statistics Authority and organisations representing disabled people—about the DWP commentary accompanying releases of benefits statistics. Guernsey sex offender given eight years

A Guernsey man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a range of sexual offences, including assaulting an eight-year-old girl in 1999.

Wayne Brouard, 42, of St Martin’s, had denied that charge but admitted taking indecent photographs of an 11-year-old girl in 2011.

Guernsey’s Royal Court ordered Brouard to serve eight years in prison, with a five-year extension.

Brouard was caught when police searched his home in 2013 on unrelated matters.

Officers found 31 indecent images on a mobile phone memory card.

Brouard pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault and gross indecency at his trial in February, but pleaded guilty to taking indecent images.

Judge Russel Finch said it was “extremely concerning” that Brouard forced a vulnerable witness to re-live events that took place 15 years ago.

A psychologist’s report declared Brouard was an extremely high re-offending risk…

Stories over the last few days in The Mirror by respected investigative journalist Tom Pettifore, concerning allegations that a cabinet minister within Tony Blair’s first term abused young boys at Angell Road children’s home in Brixton, and that a police investigation which had identified him was dropped to protect this child sex offender, will rightly leave many members of the public concerned.

Several people should be questioned about what they knew about this. Both Alistair Campbell and Tony Blair are named in one of the articles, implying that they might have had some knowledge of what was going on.

Mr Driscoll’s investigation was scrapped soon after Ron Davies quit as Welsh ­Secretary when he was mugged by a male prostitute at a gay meeting spot on Clapham Common, South London, in October 1998.
